Hands-on with Sprint’s Touch

sptouch I am seriously considering switching to Sprint just because they are the only ones who carry the HTC Touch (for now, just gotta wait until their exclusivity contract runs out). I went into a local Sprint Store (which by the way, has awesome customer service) and the sales rep showed me the Touch and we played with its features. TouchFLO is definitely awesome, it makes you forget that Windows Mobile is actually running in the background.

The touchscreen-keypad worked very accurately (I’ve got chubby fingers), and even though the touch surface for some of the buttons is small, it did what I wanted it to do. Navigating its many features was a breeze, the finger-gestures are intuitive and easy to learn. I’ve played around with iPhones for hours and I dare to say that Apple’s UI has nothing on HTC’s.

The Touch is very thin, thinner than my BlackJack and its rounded edges make it easy to hold in your palm and it even felt comfortable in my back pocket. It feels sturdy and solid, probably HTC’s most solid build. The sales rep informed me that the battery life on the device was great, 2 days of standby and 4.5 hours of talk-time (but I still would like to test its real life performance.

I still need to give at&t’s Pantech c810 a spin, and if it wasn’t for 10 remaining months on my contract, I’d switch carriers today, just for the Touch
