Another HD-DVD player for $200 at Walmart

Walmart is now selling another Hi-Def video player for what appears to be the sweet spot of $200, the Venturer SDH7000 HD-DVD player. This no-name brand, based in Ontario, Canada, with manufacturing plants in China, does 1080i with an HDMI hookup and also has ethernet connectivity for downloads and whatnot.  $200 for an HD-DVD player is pretty good, but it doesn't seem as impressive knowing that Toshiba has an HD-DVD player for the same price:

Ironically, though, the launch of the Venturer player is somewhat anti-climatic with entry-level Toshiba players now available at some stores for under $200.

The cheapest Blu-ray player out there is the Sony BDP-S300 which Walmart has for $348, but you can always get a 40GB PS3 for $400, which seems like a better deal.  Let the format wars continue!
