Amazon’s Reading Revolution: on Backorder

kindlebackorder I don't know about you, but I'm getting a little upset with these supply-and-demand games that Nintendo (with the Wii, which is still hard to find) and now Amazon, with their brand new Kindle, seem to be playing. Sure, there is nothing wrong with withholding a bit of stock to build up anticipation and hype every once in a while, but enough is enough. As of Wednesday, Novermber 21st, at 2:21 am, Amazon officially ran out of Kindles. The do inform us that they will have more Kindles in stock again on the 29th. From BlankBaby:

There is no telling if this is a consequence of consumer demand exceeding Amazon's forecasts as to how many people would want this thing, or if Amazon is taking a page out of Nintendo's book and creating a little product scarcity to drum up business.

So, should we cut Amazon a bit of slack and assume that they genuinly ran out of stock, or are they playing with the supply, to get a bit more press coverage? You decide in the comments.
